Hamza Abdi Barre (born c. 1973) is the Prime Minister of Somalia, serving since June 2022. Hailing from the Ogaden clan in Jubaland, his appointment was strategic in balancing clan dynamics. He has overseen a period of significant progress, including the lifting of the UN arms embargo and Somalia's admission into the East African Community (EAC). A former educator and Secretary-General of the Peace and Development Party, Barre has been a loyal ally to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
