A disciplined Ulinzi Starlets held Vihiga Queens to a 1-1 draw, ending their flawless start to the season and allowing defending champions Police Bullets to seize the top spot in the Kenya Women's Premier League.

NAIROBI, Kenya – Ulinzi Starlets executed a resolute defensive strategy to secure a 1–1 draw against Vihiga Queens on Sunday, November 9, 2025, halting the latter's perfect start to the Kenya Women's Premier League season. The highly anticipated match at Moi Stadium in Kisumu saw both teams maintain their unbeaten records, but the stalemate proved costly for Vihiga, who relinquished their top position to a rampant Police Bullets FC.
The soldiers, Ulinzi Starlets, drew first blood in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to take a surprise lead through Jackline Chesang. The advantage was short-lived, however, as Vihiga Queens mounted an immediate response. Just four minutes later, forward Ruth Khasoha found the back of the net, finishing a precise through ball from Ukiru Mideri to level the score. Both sides entered the halftime break deadlocked at 1–1.
The second half saw Vihiga Queens dominate possession and apply sustained pressure, but they were unable to penetrate Ulinzi's organized and compact defensive block. Despite creating several opportunities, the Vihiga attack was repeatedly thwarted, leading to a shared point that felt like a missed opportunity for the former champions. The draw leaves both teams as the only remaining unbeaten sides in the league.
The dropped points were particularly damaging for Vihiga Queens due to results elsewhere. Earlier in the day, defending champions Kenya Police Bullets delivered a stunning statement of intent, demolishing Kisumu Allstarlets 9–1. The emphatic victory, the largest margin of the season so far, propelled the Bullets to the top of the league table after four matches.
The law enforcers were relentless from the start, with Emily Morang'a opening the scoring in the 10th minute. Ugandan international Margaret Kunihira doubled the lead with a powerful free-kick before Medina Abubakar and Morang'a added two more to give the Bullets a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime. The second half saw no respite for Kisumu, as Morang'a and Kunihira both completed their hat-tricks, with further goals from Rebecca Okwaro and Mercy Mwachi sealing the rout.
In other league action on Sunday, Soccer Assassins secured a 2–0 victory over Kibera Soccer Women. Brenda Awuor gave the Assassins an early lead in the 5th minute. Kibera's hopes of a comeback were dashed when Vivian Shiyonzo was sent off in the 66th minute, and Phillis Nasimiyu sealed the win for the Assassins with a goal in the 84th minute. Meanwhile, in Bungoma, Bungoma Queens and Kayole Starlets played out a goalless 0–0 draw.
Saturday's matches saw Trinity Starlets defeat Kisped Queens 4–2, and Zetech Sparks earned a 3–1 victory over Gideon Starlets. Following the weekend's results, Police Bullets sit atop the standings with a perfect record of four wins from four, while Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets remain close behind, their unbeaten records intact but their title aspirations dented by the crucial draw.
