The party, however, gave reasons for the postponement and provided new dates for the elections.

The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has officially postponed its scheduled grassroots elections in honoring the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno.
In a direct response to a national tragedy, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has suspended its highly anticipated grassroots electoral processes. The abrupt halt comes as the ruling party mourns the sudden death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno, a stalwart of the political faction who died in a weekend helicopter crash.
The postponement underscores the profound impact Ng'eno had within the party hierarchy. As UDA prepares for crucial internal realignments ahead of the 2027 General Elections, pausing the democratic exercise is viewed as a necessary mark of respect for a fallen leader.
The third phase of UDA’s repeat grassroots elections, initially slated for early March, has been suspended indefinitely. UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar described the loss as "devastating," praising Ng'eno as a "courageous defender of public interest."
Ng'eno was deeply embedded in the ongoing political chess match, having recently won his constituency chairmanship and eyeing the Narok County Secretary-General position. His death not only robs UDA of a vocal defender in the Rift Valley but also fundamentally alters the local power dynamics within Narok County.
As the UDA National Elections Board (NEB) recalibrates its calendar, the immediate priority remains supporting the bereaved family. The political machinery will eventually restart, but for now, the yellow army stands down in solemn reflection.
"Kenya has lost a dedicated patriot whose leadership was defined by an unwavering sense of purpose," the party declared.
