Headlined by the Taptengelei Cultural Festival and the grueling Tinderet Barngetuny Mountain Run, the three-day extravaganza (Jan 15-18) is a perfect fusion of sports, culture, and eco-tourism. It represents a strategic shift by the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) to diversify the country’s tourism product beyond the beach and the bush.

While elite athletes will battle for the mountain run title, the event is designed for the amateur enthusiast and the cultural tourist. KTB CEO June Chepkemei described it as an immersive experience into the soul of the Kalenjin community.
