Police hunt for Nelson Omeno, who allegedly beat his 15-year-old daughter to death in Dandora for visiting her estranged mother, sparking outrage and vigilante threats.

Police in Dandora are hunting for Nelson Omeno, a man accused of a crime that has sickened the capital. Omeno allegedly beat his 15-year-old daughter, Charlene Nyangweso, to death for committing the "sin" of visiting her estranged mother during the Christmas holidays.
Neighbors report hearing screams from the house on Wednesday night but were too afraid to intervene due to Omeno’s violent reputation. The suspect later dumped the teenager’s lifeless body at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, claiming she had "fallen," before vanishing into the city's slums.
Charlene’s biological mother, Pamela Sande, is distraught. She revealed that Omeno had forbidden the girl from seeing her after their divorce. "She just wanted to spend Christmas with me," Sande wept. "I sent her back to him so she could go to school. I sent her back to her grave."
The tragedy has reignited calls for stronger child protection services in cases of acrimonious divorce, where children often become the punching bags for their parents' bitterness.
