Nairobi, Kenya — September 27, 2025 (EAT). The Social Health Authority (SHA) has pledged to conduct a fully transparent, merit-based recruitment process after the courts nullified its previous hiring exercise over procedural irregularities.
In a statement issued on Saturday, SHA leadership assured stakeholders that all future recruitment will adhere strictly to labour laws, public service regulations, and constitutional principles of fairness and accountability.
“We are committed to a process that is open, inclusive, and fully compliant with legal and ethical standards,” the statement read.
Earlier this month, the Employment and Labour Relations Court ruled that SHA’s recent recruitment process lacked transparency and failed to meet constitutional requirements under Article 232 on public service values.
The court ordered a fresh process to safeguard public trust and ensure equal opportunity.
The Social Health Authority is at the heart of Kenya’s ambitious universal health coverage reforms, making the recruitment of competent staff critical for its success.
Transparency is seen as key to building public confidence in the new system.
SHA is expected to publish new advertisements for the affected positions in the coming weeks.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) and Ministry of Health will provide oversight to ensure compliance with the court ruling.
