A woman caused a minor security scare at the Madaraka Day parade in Homa Bay when she briefly breached security barriers in an attempt to approach President Ruto’s departing motorcade. She was quickly subdued by the security detail, and the convoy was momentarily halted.
Homa Bay, Kenya – A security incident briefly interrupted the departure of President William Ruto’s motorcade following the conclusion of Kenya’s 62nd Madaraka Day celebrations at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on June 1. A woman managed to break through security barriers in an apparent attempt to reach the President's vehicle.
Presidential security officers responded swiftly to the breach, immediately halting the convoy as a precautionary measure and apprehending the woman. Video footage from the scene showed the individual resisting attempts by security personnel to remove her before she was eventually escorted back into the crowd. Officials later stated that the breach was an isolated incident and assured the public that additional measures are being implemented to further tighten security protocols for all future public events involving the Head of State. The woman's motives were not immediately clear, and it was not reported if she faced any charges.
