Safaricom partners with Quickmart on home internet
Safaricom has joined forces with Quickmart supermarkets to enhance the accessibility of its 4G and 5G home internet services across Kenya. Consumers can now purchase routers at Quickmart outlets and use a new QR-code system for easy activation, aiming to bridge the digital divide.

In a significant move to expand home internet accessibility, telecommunications giant Safaricom has announced a strategic partnership with Quickmart supermarkets. This collaboration aims to facilitate the rollout of Safaricom's advanced 4G and 5G home internet services across Kenya, making high-speed connectivity more readily available to households.
Under this new initiative, Kenyan consumers can now conveniently purchase Safaricom's 4G and 5G routers, which retail at an affordable KSh2,999, from any of Quickmart's 61 outlets strategically located nationwide. A novel QR-code system has been introduced to simplify the activation process, allowing customers to quickly set up their internet service upon purchase.
Fawzia Ali, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the venture, stating, “This partnership with Quickmart is a crucial step in our mission to ensure that more Kenyans can access reliable and fast home internet with unparalleled ease.”
This strategic alliance is designed to extend Safaricom's connectivity footprint, particularly in areas not yet covered by fibre optic cables. By leveraging its extensive 97% 4G population coverage and aggressively expanding its 5G network with plans to reach all 47 counties, Safaricom aims to bridge the digital divide and empower more Kenyan homes with transformative internet capabilities.
