The first wave of winners in the 'Shangwe @25' promotion have received prizes ranging from vehicles to half-a-million shilling grants, part of the telco's multi-million shilling giveaway to mark its silver jubilee.

Twenty-five Kenyan businesses, from avocado exporters to tech schools, are celebrating a significant boost after becoming the first winners in Safaricom's anniversary enterprise promotion.
The giveaway, a cornerstone of the company's 25th-anniversary celebrations, injects vital capital and assets into local enterprises. This move aims to spur growth and community development for a sector that accounts for about 40% of Kenya's GDP and employs a majority of the workforce.
The initial winners reflect the diverse landscape of Kenyan commerce, spanning agribusiness, education, logistics, and retail. Safaricom confirmed the distribution of prizes designed to address specific business needs.
Frankline Okata, Safaricom's Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer, noted that the promotion recognizes the crucial role business customers play in the telco's success. "Our commitment is that we will continue to offer businesses across all segments practical tools and opportunities to grow and thrive," Okata stated.
Among the beneficiaries, Sakifarm Limited, an avocado exporter, received a tricycle to streamline its farmer engagement. Its CEO, Elijah Sawe, highlighted how Safaricom's bulk SMS and payment solutions have been critical. "These solutions have helped us build trust with farmers, remain competitive, and reduce human resource costs," Sawe explained.
In the education sector, Moringa School, which received KES 500,000 for its social initiatives, praised the award. "It allows us to expand training opportunities for learners who would otherwise not access such programmes," said CEO Nikki Germany.
The "Shangwe @25" promotion will continue for eight weeks, concluding on January 19, 2026. Enterprises can qualify for the weekly draws by purchasing, renewing, or reactivating any Safaricom Business service, from connectivity to M-PESA for Business solutions.
