NTSA suspends Riruta Sacco indefinitely after a viral video shows a tout pushing a schoolgirl from a moving vehicle, sparking national outrage and a police manhunt.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has cracked the whip, suspending the operating license of Riruta Sacco indefinitely. The decisive action follows a horrific viral video showing a tout pushing a teenage schoolgirl out of a moving matatu along Ngong Road after an argument over Sh20 fare.
The video, captured by a motorist’s dashboard camera, sparked national outrage. It shows the girl tumbling onto the tarmac, narrowly missing the rear wheels of the bus. She is currently admitted at Coptic Hospital with a fractured arm and head injuries.
"We are not just looking for the driver and the conductor; we are holding the entire Sacco management criminally liable," NTSA Director General George Njao declared. "This is not an accident. It is an act of savagery. We have revoked the badges of the crew and suspended the Sacco’s fleet of 45 vehicles until they undergo mandatory re-vetting."
Police have launched a manhunt for the tout, identified only as "Brayo," who fled the scene. The incident has reignited the debate on the safety of women and children in public transport.
As the girl recovers from her physical and psychological wounds, the spotlight turns to the transport sector’s culture of impunity, where a Sh20 coin is valued more than a human life.
