Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi has publicly stated that he has “peace of mind” even as he remains under investigation for a rape allegation in France.
Paris, France / Nairobi, Kenya — September 25, 2025.
Paris Saint-Germain and Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi has publicly stated that he has “peace of mind” even as he remains under investigation for a rape allegation in France. He reaffirmed his innocence, expressed concern over the personal toll, and said he trusts in the judicial process.
In an interview with Canal+ France, Hakimi described the situation as one of the most difficult periods of his life. He said the allegations “hurt” his family and himself deeply.
Nonetheless, he maintained he is calm: “I know what I’ve been accused of. It’s a lie. … I know I haven’t done anything.”
He also emphasized cooperation with authorities, stating that he has made himself available for investigations and expects the truth to emerge.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred on February 25, 2023, in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris.
Hakimi was indicted by an investigating judge in March 2023 and placed under judicial supervision.
He is free on bail and remains subject to judicial process; he is allowed to travel outside France under certain conditions.
If convicted of non-aggravated rape, French law could impose a sentence of up to 15 years.
The case has stirred major media interest, intensifying scrutiny on public figures and athletes implicated in serious allegations.
PSG has not publicly severed ties, likely awaiting the outcome of judicial proceedings.
Hakimi’s call for calm and insistence on innocence could play a strategic role in shaping public opinion and legal framing.
The situation raises broader questions about due process, reputation, and how sports institutions should respond in high-profile legal matters.
