Nakuru County secures ARV and TB drug stocks

Nakuru County's Deputy Governor, David Kones, delivered reassuring news to residents on May 15, confirming that there is no shortage of vital antiretroviral (ARV) or tuberculosis (TB) medicines across the county's healthcare facilities. This announcement aims to allay any fears among patients reliant on these life-sustaining treatments.

To substantiate this assurance, Kones personally flagged off a significant KSh12 million consignment of HIV/TB drugs procured from the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS). This shipment is designated to replenish stocks and ensure all treatment sites within Nakuru County are adequately supplied. He strongly urged patients not to resort to hoarding medications or attempting to refill prescriptions prematurely, emphasizing that all clinics currently possess sufficient stocks for both ongoing treatment regimens and preventative therapies.

In addition to securing drug supplies, Nakuru County has also taken proactive steps to bolster its HIV testing capabilities by increasing the availability of testing kits. Furthermore, the county's health department has strengthened its pharmaceutical logistics and supply chain management systems. These measures are designed to ensure the continuous and uninterrupted availability of essential medicines, safeguarding the health and well-being of its population affected by HIV and TB.
