Mombasa, Kenya – The government has successfully completed extensive renovations of Mombasa’s historic Jamhuri Stadium, a project that included the installation of new, international-standard artificial turf and advanced floodlighting systems. Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba stated that the upgraded stadium will now be capable of hosting national and potentially international tournaments, providing a much-needed boost to local youth sports development programs in the coastal region. Local sports teams, athletes, and officials have praised the improvements, highlighting that the revamped Jamhuri Stadium offers a modern, high-quality facility for training, competitions, and community engagement. The enhanced stadium is also expected to attract more significant sporting events to Mombasa and thereby spur greater interest and participation in athletics and various sports among coastal communities.
