More on the Israeli strikes and evacuation orders in Lebanon here from the Guardian’s William Christou in Beirut: Residents of the Lebanese capital were awoken by the sounds of about a dozen blasts at 3am on Monday, as Israel struck three locations in Beirut’s

In a dramatic escalation of the Middle East conflict, Kuwaiti air defenses mistakenly shot down three U.S. F-15 fighter jets during active combat operations, further complicating the joint US-Israeli war on Iran.
The fog of war has yielded a catastrophic error in the skies over the Persian Gulf. As the United States and Israel intensify their massive bombardment of Iran, highly strained allied air defenses in Kuwait accidentally targeted and downed three American F-15E Strike Eagles in a devastating "friendly fire" incident.
The shoot-down underscores the extreme volatility and crowded airspace of the current theater of operations. With Iranian ballistic missiles and drones raining down in retaliatory waves, the risk of miscalculation has reached critical mass, threatening to unnerve the very alliances propping up Operation Epic Fury.
According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the F-15s were engaged in active combat, attempting to intercept Iranian aerial targets, when Kuwaiti radar systems misidentified the American jets amidst the clutter. All six crew members ejected safely, but the incident has severely embarrassed allied coordination efforts.
The downing occurred alongside intense Israeli strikes on Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut, killing at least 31 people, and widespread Iranian drone attacks targeting the Gulf cities of Dubai, Doha, and Manama. The conflict is rapidly spiraling beyond targeted surgical strikes into a sprawling, uncontainable regional war.
As smoke rises near the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait City, the illusion of a swift, controlled military operation has completely evaporated. The entire Middle East is now a fragmented, highly combustible combat zone.
"When the skies are saturated with missiles, the line between ally and enemy blurs with fatal consequences," defense analysts observe.
