Twenty-six EACC officers began an intensive anti-corruption course at the FBI Academy in Quantico, USA. EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud said the training will sharpen investigative skills and foster cooperation with U.S. agencies to recover stolen assets.
Quantico, USA – In a strategic move to sharpen Kenya’s anti-corruption arsenal, 26 officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) have embarked on the Advanced Public Corruption Training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The programme comes under a partnership between the EACC and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The training, formally opened by EACC CEO Abdi A. Mohamud, MBS, covers advanced investigative techniques, anti-corruption strategies, forensic analysis, and international cooperation.
FBI Assistant Director for Training, Matthew Miraglia, joined the ceremony and echoed the importance of enhanced collaboration in tackling cross-border corruption.
During his visit, Mohamud engaged in strategic discussions with FBI leaders and officials from the U.S. Department of Justice, targeting enhanced capacity for intelligence sharing, asset recovery, and Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) in complex investigations.
He also held talks with Kenyan Ambassador to Washington, D.C., David Kerich, exploring cooperation on matters including fake academic credentials issued by U.S.-based institutions, a growing concern in credential fraud.
Officers trained at Quantico will cascade acquired skills back home, injecting modern investigative techniques into EACC operations.
This development signals a deepening transnational collaboration between Kenya and the U.S., and a commitment to professionalising anti-corruption efforts at a time when international recovery of stolen assets has become critical.
