Thousands of Kenyans across 10 counties will face scheduled power interruptions on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, as Kenya Power undertakes planned network maintenance. The utility company announced that the outages are necessary to improve the grid's reliability.

The interruptions, varying in duration, highlight the ongoing challenge for businesses and households that depend on a consistent power supply. In Nairobi, the outages will affect several areas, including Mihango, Garage Road, and parts of Rosslyn, for between six to eight hours.

Nairobi and Key Regions Affected

Kenya Power released a detailed schedule outlining the specific locations and times for the blackouts. The company stated the interruptions are to facilitate scheduled maintenance works.

Key areas impacted include:

• Nairobi County: Parts of Mihango, Rosslyn, and Garage Road will be without power. The outage in Rosslyn is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will affect the Canadian Embassy and the residence of the American Embassy.
• Nakuru County: Kabarak University and its surroundings, including Kabarak High School and Ngata Kaptich, will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Siaya County: Areas including Usenge, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, and surrounding markets will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Other Affected Counties: The maintenance will also impact parts of Kericho, Bomet, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Kitui, and Taita Taveta counties.
