Reigning Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions Kenya Police FC have appointed Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic as their new head coach, the club confirmed on Monday, November 3, 2025. The move comes as the club looks to reverse a difficult start to the 2025/2026 season that has seen them drop into the relegation zone and suffer an early exit from continental competition.

Stojanovic, 44, was officially unveiled on Sunday evening, November 2, at the Police Sacco Stadium, following the team's goalless draw with Posta Rangers, a match he watched from the stands. He replaces Burundian coach Etienne Ndayiragije, who mutually parted ways with the club on October 29, 2025. Ndayiragije had guided the law enforcers to their first-ever league title last season but left after the team was eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Sudanese giants Al-Hilal Omdurman on a 4-1 aggregate in the second preliminary round.

A Mandate for Revival

Club chairman Gideon Nyale Munga expressed confidence in the new appointment, citing Stojanovic's extensive experience across the African continent. "Coach Dusan has a wealth of experience. He has worked in South Africa, North Africa, and East Africa. We engaged him because we believe that with his exposure and experience, Police FC will reach greater heights," Munga stated during the unveiling. "We believe that under your leadership, we will remain champions this coming season."

Stojanovic arrives to find the champions in 17th position in the 18-team league, a stark contrast to their triumphant previous season. However, the team has four games in hand, offering a pathway to climb the table. His immediate task is to stabilize the squad and mount a robust title defense.

East African Experience

While admitting to limited direct exposure to the Kenyan Premier League, Stojanovic highlighted his recent success in the region as a key asset. During the 2023/24 season, he guided Uganda's SC Villa to their 17th league title, their first in 20 years. His resume also includes a stint as an assistant coach at Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek.

"It was the project, where we are now and where we want to be, and that is to be at the top of the continent," Stojanovic said, explaining his motivation for joining the club. "We can promise hard work, we can promise never to give up, and we will always fight for our target and goals." He acknowledged the team's recent lack of goals but expressed optimism that with time, the results would improve.

Challenges Ahead

The Serbian coach takes charge of a team that has struggled for form since their historic league win. The early Champions League exit was a significant blow after the club had invested heavily in the squad. The departure of Ndayiragije on October 29 was framed by the club as the coach's desire to pursue "greener pastures and newer challenges."

Stojanovic's tenure begins immediately, with his first major test expected to be the upcoming league fixture against Sofapaka.
