Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has sanctioned a major infrastructure overhaul, approving the dualisation of the arterial road running through Bakori Local Government Area. The move is a direct response to the "transportation nightmare" crippling the region’s economic potential.

The project, announced during a high-profile stakeholder meeting in Katsina, aims to decongest the heavy traffic that currently chokes Bakori town, particularly on market days. Governor Radda emphasized that the road is not a luxury, but a "lifeline" for safety and commerce in the North-West zone.

Breaking the Gridlock

The current single-lane infrastructure has become a death trap and an economic bottleneck. The new dual-carriage design promises to unlock the flow of goods and people:

• Safety First: The Governor cited alarming accident rates on the narrow strip as a primary driver for the project. "We cannot continue to count bodies on a road meant to bring prosperity," Radda stated.
• Economic Engine: By smoothing logistics in Bakori—a key agricultural hub—the state expects a surge in trade volume with neighboring Kano and Kaduna states.

A Promise Kept

The approval follows a solidarity visit by Bakori APC stakeholders, who presented the road as their top priority. "This is about listening to the grassroots," Radda told the delegation. "When the people speak, the government must act."

For the residents of Bakori, the bulldozers cannot arrive soon enough. The project signals a new era of urban renewal for Katsina, positioning the state as a modern logistics corridor in Northern Nigeria.
