Kasarani to Host All Harambee Stars Matches as Kenya Prepares for CHAN 2024 Showdown
Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya is gearing up for a historic footballing moment as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that all Harambee Stars group-stage matches at the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) will be played at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium.
The official draw, unveiled Friday, places Kenya in a high-stakes Group A alongside continental powerhouses DR Congo, Angola, Morocco, and Zambia. The Stars are set to open the tournament in a blockbuster clash against DR Congo on August 3, with expectations already running high among fans and pundits.
CAF’s decision to centralize Kenya’s group matches in the capital is being hailed as a strategic win for the host nation. “Playing in one venue will help the players focus without having to travel,” said a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) official. “We’re excited to welcome top-tier African football right here in Nairobi.”
In addition to hosting all of Kenya’s group games, the iconic Kasarani Stadium will also serve as the stage for one of the quarter-finals and the tournament’s grand finale—cementing its status as the epicenter of CHAN 2024.
As the Harambee Stars prepare to face some of the continent’s most formidable teams, the home advantage could prove crucial. With roaring crowds expected to fill the stands and national pride on the line, CHAN 2024 marks not only a competitive test for the team but also a defining moment for Kenya as a rising football host nation on the African stage.
