DCI boss Mohamed Amin joins global law enforcement leaders in Rome for the finale of Project ITEPA2, strengthening the Africa-Europe alliance against human trafficking and drug cartels.

The war on organized crime knows no borders, and neither does Kenya’s top detective. Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has touched down in Rome, Italy, for the final summit of Project ITEPA2, a high-stakes initiative designed to smash the criminal pipelines running between Africa and Europe.
This is not a mere junket; it is a war room. Project ITEPA2 focuses on the "triad of terror": human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and narcotics. With Kenya increasingly becoming a transit hub for global cartels, Amin’s presence in Rome signals a shift from reactive policing to proactive international intelligence sharing.
Speaking to European counterparts, Amin emphasized that modern criminals operate like multinational corporations. "You cannot fight a networked enemy with a bureaucratic hierarchy," he stated. The conference reviewed the successes of the project, which has seen increased interceptions of falsified travel documents and the dismantling of smuggling rings operating out of Nairobi.
Amin, recently elected to the INTERPOL Executive Committee, is positioning Kenya as the "shield of the continent." By tightening the net in East Africa, he aims to choke off the supply lines that feed Europe’s black markets.
The days of the DCI being a local force are over. Under Amin, the agency is going global. As the conference concludes, the message to the cartels is clear: there is no safe harbor.
From the streets of Nairobi to the docks of Rome, the dragnet is closing, and the DCI is holding one end of the rope.
