The era of queuing at Sheria House to change a company director is officially over. The Business Registration Service (BRS) has rolled out its upgraded "Version 2" platform on eCitizen, marking a significant leap in the ease of doing business in Kenya.
For years, post-registration services—like transferring shares, appointing new directors, or updating beneficial ownership—were a bureaucratic nightmare involving manual files and endless "missing file" excuses. The new system promises to make these changes as simple as an M-PESA transaction.
The new module is fully integrated into the eCitizen dashboard. Business owners can now:
Crucially, the system links directly to the Registrar of Persons, ensuring that the details of new directors are verified in real-time, reducing the risk of fraud.
"This is about data sovereignty for the business owner," a BRS statement read. "You control your company's data from your office, not from a counter in Nairobi."
