California investigates Grok AI for generating nude images of minors, threatening legal action against Elon Musk’s company for failing to protect children.

The state of California has opened a new front in the war against unregulated AI. Attorney General Rob Bonta confirmed an investigation into reports that Grok AI is being used to generate nude images of minors, calling the findings "vile and disgusting."
The probe focuses on whether xAI failed to implement basic safeguards. "We cannot allow a machine to automate child abuse," Bonta said. The investigation could force xAI to open its algorithmic "black box" to regulators, setting a precedent for how AI companies are held liable for the content their tools create.
