Treasury launches new digital systems to track donor funds and public debt, aiming to curb corruption and improve transparency in government spending.

The National Treasury has launched a new digital offensive against corruption and inefficiency, rolling out two smart systems designed to track donor funds and public debt in real-time.
Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo unveiled the Development Partners Management Information System (DPMIS) and the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) in Nairobi. The move is a direct response to longstanding criticism from the Auditor General regarding "ghost projects" and the opaque nature of Kenya’s debt register.
For decades, billions of shillings in donor aid have vanished into the black hole of bureaucracy. The new systems promise an end to this by creating an immutable digital trail for every project.
If fully implemented, this could be a game-changer for Kenya’s credit rating. "Transparency is the currency of trust," noted an IMF representative. For the taxpayer, it offers a glimmer of hope that the era of explaining away missing billions with "typing errors" is coming to an end.
