Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi announces an urgent trip to Russia to address the crisis of Kenyans fighting in the Ukraine war, following the death of a recruit and the rescue of 18 others from the conflict zone.

The secret war involving Kenyan youth in the frozen trenches of Eastern Europe has forced the government’s hand. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced an urgent diplomatic mission to Russia, following the confirmed death of Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, a Kenyan national killed fighting for the Russian army in Ukraine.
The revelation peels back the curtain on a disturbing trend: desperate jobless Kenyans being lured into the "meat grinder" of the Russia-Ukraine conflict with promises of money and citizenship. Speaking to radio stations in Western Kenya, Mudavadi admitted the gravity of the situation, confirming that 18 Kenyans have already been rescued and repatriated, but hundreds more may still be trapped.
"I will be making an official visit to Russia in the near future... to ensure Kenyans do not fall into traps," Mudavadi stated. His choice of words is telling. The recruitment networks, often operating through shadowy online portals and dubious agencies in the Middle East (where Mogesa was based before deploying), are treating Kenyan lives as expendable commodities.
Intelligence reports paint a grim picture. Recruits are often thrown into assault units with minimal training. Mogesa’s body was found on the battlefield carrying passports of two other Kenyans—a chilling detail that suggests a camaraderie of the doomed.
The government has established a counseling unit for the returnees, many of whom are suffering from severe PTSD. But for the families of those still missing, Mudavadi’s trip is a sliver of hope in a terrifying silence.
"This is a conflict that must come to an end," PS Korir Sing’oei emphasized. But until it does, the Kenyan government is in a race to pull its citizens out of the line of fire before another body bag arrives at JKIA.
