Fredrick Subai was stabbed to death in Folkland village, Kitale, while returning from choir practice, leaving his family devastated and sparking calls for better security.

A sombre cloud hangs over Folkland village in Kitale after a brutal attack left a family shattered and a community in fear. Fredrick Subai, a dedicated churchgoer, was stabbed to death on Tuesday evening while walking home from choir practice.
The incident occurred around 7:00 pm as Subai returned from St. Kizito Catholic Church. According to witnesses, he was ambushed by unknown assailants who inflicted multiple stab wounds before fleeing into the dark. The attack also left two other individuals with serious injuries, sparking outrage over the rising insecurity in Trans Nzoia County.
Ruth Naliaka, the widow of the deceased, is struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of her husband and the family's breadwinner. "I am in disbelief," she said, fighting back tears. "My life has suddenly come to a standstill. He went to sing for God, only to meet the devil on his way home."
The senseless killing has reignited demands for a security overhaul in the area. Locals are urging the police to launch a crackdown on the criminal gangs terrorizing the village. For Fredrick Subai’s family, however, justice is the only thing that matters now.
"We want to know who did this and why," said a neighbor. "A man cannot die just because he went to church. The government must protect us."
