Saitabao Ole Kanchory mourns the heartbreaking loss of three siblings in a Gilgil road accident, a tragedy that has left a visiting US-based Kenyan family shattered.

The sheer cruelty of the Kenyan road has been laid bare once again. Human rights advocate Saitabao Ole Kanchory has led the nation in mourning a devastating tragedy on the Nakuru-Naivasha highway that has left a US-based Kenyan mother childless in the blink of an eye.
The accident at Gilgil claimed the lives of three young siblings: Njeri (16), Emmanuel (13), and Kairo (6). They had traveled from the US with their mother, Wangui Ndirangu, to visit a children's home—an act of charity that ended in unspeakable horror. Kanchory’s emotional tribute captured the collective grief of a nation tired of typing "Rest in Peace."
"This one has really broken my heart," Kanchory wrote on X. "I barely have any words of comfort for the mother except to say that, as parents, we are merely stewards... Your lovely kids are with their heavenly father, mama."
The details are harrowing. A trailer, overtaking dangerously at midnight, forced their hired van off the road before smashing into its mid-section. The two young boys died at the scene. Njeri, the eldest, fought for her life in an induced coma for 12 days before succumbing to her injuries on January 16.
As the NTSA releases yet another report on road safety, the Ndirangu family is left with three urns and a silence that no policy paper can fill. The Gilgil blackspot has taken its toll, and this time, it took everything.
