Kayole murder probe: police hunt boyfriend after 23-year-old found dead in bed

Nairobi, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 — Detectives have launched a manhunt for a suspect after a 23-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Kayole following what police described as a domestic dispute with her boyfriend. 

The woman was identified as Ann Muthoni Ngunjiri, according to police. Investigators said her body was discovered on Sunday, February 1, and key exhibits were recovered from the scene as inquiries began. 

Nairobi region police commander George Seda said officers were seeking the boyfriend—who was reported missing at the time the body was found—for questioning as investigations continue. 

Separate killings reported in Kisii, Kakamega, Kisumu and Meru

In the same police brief, authorities also reported multiple suspected murder cases across the country:

• Kisii (Nyambera area): A 40-year-old public health worker, Geoffrey Oruru, was fatally attacked as he entered his compound. Police said the motive was not immediately known and that investigations were ongoing. 

• Kakamega (Jaminda): David Ongoma, 34, was found dead and his body discovered in a ditch after he failed to return home from watching a football match, police said. 

• Kisumu (Miwani): Police reported that human remains were found in a sugarcane plantation within Kibos Sugar and Allied Industries land, with investigators treating it as a suspected dumping case. 

• Meru (Kiirua): The body of a man identified as Henry Kimathi, 40, was found in a compound, with police saying the cause of death was not immediately established pending further procedures. 

Police said murder cases are rising even as efforts to solve them continue.
