Skiing star Sabrina Wanjiku Simader withdrew from the 2026 Games after the Kenyan government failed to provide promised funding, a decision that left many fans frustrated and raised questions about support for minority sports. Days later, she reappeared as a mentor and brand ambassador for Infinix’s “Beyond Snow, All‑Round Legends” campaign.

Simader is one of the few Kenyans to have competed in winter sports at the highest level. She previously represented Kenya at the 2018 Winter Olympics and grew up training in Austria, making her an outlier in both Kenyan athletics and the global skiing world.
